Following a season hampered by bad weather, things ended on a high note last Sunday. Mark Limbrick, who organises the work parties says, “The weather has not been kind to us this season with a number of dates cancelled and lots of time and effort spent dealing with the aftermath of storms, snow and high winds. Nevertheless, we can all be pleased with what we have achieved this season and I hope you have all enjoyed your time spent in the wood. Special thanks to Bob for the use of his tractor, quad bike and chain saws, Simon for the new mere stones, and to Karen for the wonderful cake. Thanks to Patrick for recording it all on the website. Once again, many thanks to all for your contributions – we hope to see you again later in the year. In the meantime don’t forget to enjoy the wood over the spring and summer – don’t miss the bluebells this year, they are fabulous!”
So, why not take a thermos flask across to the quillets to enjoy the tranquility of the wood and try out the new seating arrangement with views across the valley.
Here’s a seclection of images from the last few months, including a group photo of visitors from the Woodland Trust who were interested to see our work and to learn of the unusual history of the Brineddin quillets.
